I do not feel the need to modify my action plan at this time. This plan is going to take some time to fully implement. At this time my students are in the middle of reading a lengthy novel and working on writing and revising their research paper on Illinois history. These activities will take us through December and into January. Hopefully, second semester I will find some time to invite our guest speakers in to talk about internet safety and careers that use technology. The only questions I have are about the implementation of the GAME plan. Are we expected to fully carry out this plan before this class is over? I hope not because my curriculum is jam packed right now. I want to carry out the plan, but feel that I can not move forward with it at this time. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Hi Terry,
ReplyDeleteI agree that it can be tough to implement these assignments in our busy schedules. There are other classes that we have taken that it was near impossible, especially with the other work that we have to complete for our districts. I think though if we have an idea of what our students’ capabilities are and what information and tools are available, we can make an educated guess as to whether or not we need to change our plan. For example, I know that my school district blocks many of the sites and or download of tools that I would like to use. So part of the change that I know I need to make is contacting our IT department to get tools loaded on to my computer. Just a thought of what you might be able to look at.
Hi Terry,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling the same way that I am about not needing to do much with the plan at this time. My plan too seems like it will take time. I need to work with my fellow teachers to implement all I would like to do and it seems, with the holidays around, that it is not the best time to do this. I think, like you, that I'll start in the New Year. I think meeting our GAME plan is more of a year long goal, or longer, at least I hope because, like you, I am not sure if I can meet it this class!!!
Thanks for your suggestions. It's always reassuring to hear that others are feeling the same way. I don't really feel the need to revise my plan, I just feel that it is going to take some time to see it through. Second semester seems much more realistic to me.
